The Great Wall

Saturday brought some awesome weather for the Great Wall.  It was actually sunny in Beijing when we got up.  Sunny, with a touch of pollution, but sunny nonetheless.

This was dubbed "Super-Hero Foo Dog"

Then, on the drive home from the Great Wall, our bus got into a fender-bender.  I didn't take any pictures, because the damage was so minor.  But, it did produce a 20-minute arguing match between our bus driver, the driver of the other car, and the Police officer on scene.  Finger-in-chest yelling and all.  We have been told that, in China, Fault in a car accident is decided then-and-there by the police officer, not later by the insurance companies.  So a long argument was necessary.

We were told that our bus driver was absolved, but he did not look like he was winning the argument.....we will never know.  The other car was passing on the right shoulder (very common here), but the shoulder was narrowing for a bridge.  I think the other car had felt he wasn't going to shoot the gap in time, so he stopped hard.  But he HAD actually made it past the bus, and the bus had already tucked in behind him. So the bus rear-ended him.  Bus driver's fault?  Oh well.  Nobody hurt.
